Remember to backup to H: drive
by Mark Fritz - Thursday, 25 March 2010, 02:18 PM

no

Don't rely on your USB for your assignments. Save to the H:\ drive at school

A lot of students are losing their important assignments because their laptop or USB is not working.

All students should be saving their assignments to the H:\ drive to make sure you always have a copy of your assignments.

It only takes 1-2 minutes a day to copy your assignments from USB or your laptop to the H:\ drive and we can guarantee that you always have a copy. We back up your H:\ drives every day and can even retrieve changed or deleted assignments within a week from the H:\ drive.

To make your donation take your old mobile phone, mobile batteries or chargers to the recycle point in the laptop repair centre in the house.

For every 1kg of mobile phones, mobile chargers and mobile batteries we collect we go in the draw to win some great prizes for the school.

Printing Charges
by Mark Fritz - Monday, 15 February 2010, 11:00 AM

There has been some confusion surrounding the new printing charges.
T610

Why are we using the system?

We have decided to implement the system in order to reduce the environmental impact that Merici has. By reducing the amount of printing we save trees and reduce our ozone and carbon output.

Instead of printing consider emailing your assignment work to your teacher instead.

What are the cost details?

Seniors will receive $5 per month that can accumulate up to $7.50 if you still have credit left at the end of the month. This is the equivalent to 100 pages double sided or 150 pages double sided.
Juniors receive $3 per month. The is
equivalent to 60 pages double sided.

One sheet of paper is charged at .10c per page so you will do better if both sides are printed.

What happens if I run out of credit?

If you run out of credit you will have to wait until the 1st of the month to receive more credit. If you have urgent work consider emailing it to your teacher or asking them to contact IT Support to add some credit.

I tried to print something out but it didn't print

You need to note the message that appears when you printed the document. It will tell you exactly why the job did not print.
All printing needs to be A4, double sided and less than 12 pages long.
You also cannot print the same document out twice in one minute so think before you print.

What happens if I am doing work for the school that is not an assignment such as SRC duties?

If you have printed work out that is for official school duties you can ask your supervisor to contact IT Support to refund the cost of the job to your account. These need to be on a case by case basis and you must provide the name of the files that were printed.
